The interesting name of this church translated to “Our Lady of One Hundred Doors” is associated with the Legend stating that there are 99 visible doors. The 100th door will be opened and visible when Constantinople becomes Greek again. Restored and completed in the year 1966, this church has numerous captivating and beautiful interiors and artworks. You will find many small images in the church and its chapels. The iconostasis of the church is adorned with 3 icons- Pantocrato icon, the icon of Panagia Ekatontapiliani and the icon of Dermition of the Theotokos.

Sifnos is often called “the island of 336 churches”. Although this Island is a city legend, it is packed with small monasteries and chapels. Situated in a pretty surrounding, the Church of the Seven Martyrs can be found close to a little village of Kastro, over an islet. The gorgeous Cycladic-style church is among the most photographed areas of Sifnos. The blue and white dome of the church is easily seen overlooking the crystal blue waters of the sea.

Another beautiful church in Greece is the Monastery of PanagiaHozoviotissa, renowned as one of Aegean’s most significant Byzantine monuments. The imposing 11th-century architecture is constructed into the wall of a cliff, which is 300 meters above the sea. Here, the miraculous icon of the island’s patron saint and the Virgin was found, attracting thousands of pilgrims that visit the Monastery for devotion and prayer. The locals named this place the ‘single-wall monastery’’ due to its narrow architecture. The width of the Monastery of PanagiaHozoviotissa is only 5 meters. The beautiful church location in Amorgos is always admired by people, including the nonreligious ones.
