Skopelos is an island located in the western part of the Aegean Sea. The island was founded by one of the sons of Dionysius, Staphylos. The island was first known as Pareptheus. An ancient Mycenean tomb was discovered in an archaeological site on the island. Skopelos is shaped in the form of a saxophone, and it is known as one of the greenest of all Aegean Islands. There are over 360 churches in Skopelos town. For its immense beauty, the town was awarded ‘Traditional Settlement of Outstanding Beauty.’ The town is charming and very tranquil.
